Adam Hamilton is senior pastor of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, one of the fastest growing, most highly visible churches in the country. This book is fantastic for those who are looking for an introduction to ...

This is a well thought out and well written book on the overarching themes of the book of John. This book is fantastic for those who are looking for an introduction to the book, and a brief overview of some of the theological themes that are developed in the book of John.
Adam Hamilton write with ease, weaving in both personal stories, and relevant anecdotes that keep the readers attention, while at the same time pointing out some of the themes that lie below the text that are only recognized with proper study and understanding. John is a gospel that is full of references to the Christology of Jesus (and the Genesis story) and the author really brings them out in this book. The book does not act as a commentary, but rather picks and chooses a few key passages to explicate from the book of John. The new student of John will find a book that is challenging, and the seasoned veteran will pick up some new insights into the book as well.
The book is short, simple and easy to read, but is balanced with some good scholarship. I really enjoyed reading the book, I finished it in two days because of the ease in reading the book. If you are a new student to the book of John this is a good place to start in your study.

Wonderful Book - Really helps explain John

John is widely considered to be one of the more philosophical gospels and Adam Alexander does a fantastic job of helping you find some of the meaning in the gospel. When the book first arrived, I pulled out my trusty Bible but I was pleasantly surprised that the Author had embedded the whole book of John into this book.
Overall, a wonderful style by the author. I really enjoyed reading him and reading John in a new light. Also the CEB translation was very nice. I usually prefer a NASB or a more word for word translation but I must say that I really enjoyed reading the gospel in CEB. This was my first exposure to this recent translation and I must say that I really enjoyed it.

A Must Read.

I have tried many times to read the bible but frankly I give up because I can't understand much of it. Adam's book on John is wonderful and he writes so anyone can and wants to read the bible.
Adam please write a book on Matthew, Mark and Luke also.
