Fun Read

I enjoyed spending the evening with Hope and Ian. This was a quick, fun and delightful read despite the sometimes hoaky descriptions and sporadic typos in odd places. Stay with it. You'll finish in less than two hours,and learn quite a bit about why putting your trust in God is the most important life decision you could ever make.

This is the first book by Carole I've read and I really enjoyed it! The story moved at a good pace and was fun to read. There was faith woven into the story without reading like a sermon. I'd read more by this author.

The goal of the book is to help you strengthen your mindset, build your character, harvest your thoughts, and stimulate your personal growth in order to turn your struggles into actionable advantages to achieve your dreams. The book is a very simple read where the reader can actually jump in and out of the book. There are 23 chapters in the book and 20 of them are only 3 to 5 pages long.

With Mark’s experience he gives amazing insight on how to completely turn your mindset around and your business right-side up. This is a must read

#insidejob is a phenomenal book! Mr. Sephton's honesty and passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed in business and personal life is clearly evident. This book is not only for entrepreneurs but any one who needs to re-center their minds and lives with positive change. Mr. Sephton's inspiring and motivating words leap off of the page and cause you to turn them into real life action. Mr. Sephton's writing style made #insidejob an easy read but his words were thought provoking and challenging. I found myself highlighting many life changing and thought changing truths throughout the book that really had an impact on my personal life. I was also able to let go of negativity that I was holding on to from my past. If you need inspiration to make your thoughts and life positive and successful this is a great book! "You are only as good as the thoughts you think".

A Great Introduction to a Key Puritan Writer

Some people are fascinated by the mythical Lost World of Atlantis. The whole idea of a lost world or civilization makes for great adventure stories. But in history, there are lost worlds. The rediscovery of such worlds is adventurous. Those who enter such worlds come back to this world with tales of delight.

There really are lost worlds. One such lost world was the World of Puritanism. We knew it existed. We were told that they wore funny hats, burned witches, oppressed free thought, and threw everything off in England and America for a season. That whole sentence represents a myth.

The rediscovery of the Puritans in the middle to late 20th centuries is a fascinating story. I am sure it is more complicated than this, but I usually associate with 2 men, neither of whom had much in common. One was the American historian Perry Miller of Harvard College. He began his quest of studying the American Puritans and encouraging his graduate students to do so also. Other historians thought Miller was trekking off on an empty quest. Miller wrote a whole series of scholarly works on the Puritans. Miller was not a Christian and had no spiritual motivation for studying Puritanism. He was a historian studying ideas. But his labors spurred others, both believers and secular historians, to continue Puritan studies.

The other person was the British preacher Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Along with such men as Iain Murray, J. I. Packer, and S M. Houghton, Lloyd-Jones envisioned revival in Britain and the English speaking world as a real need. Basic to the vision was an emphasis on preaching the Bible in an expository manner and proclaiming sound doctrine. Alongside those components, they all longed to see good solid books in the hands of pastors and Christian laymen. They longed to see old Christian classics reprinted. Such a quest led them quickly to the reprinting of great Puritan works.

Puritan tomes and scholarly works on Puritans began being republished or printed. Very quickly, the impulse from the Christian community exceeded that of the university scholars. There was some, by the way, who wore both hats. By the 1970s, the Puritan book revival was becoming a flood. Many of the Puritan books were not being retyped and reset, but were being photocopied and published in fonts and sizes as were the originals. Banner of Truth in Edinburgh, Scotland was the flagship for Puritan studies. But there were and are plenty of other publishers who were finding and printing the same kinds of books.

The Puritan Revival was a corollary to the broader revival of Reformed theology. For English speaking and reading audiences, many of the best exemplars of Reformed theology were the Puritans and their direct heirs.

The Puritan Revival continues. A whole lost world has been rediscovered. But, as many of you know, it is a vast, as well as rich world. The Puritans were extensive in their publishing and exhaustive in their treatment of Scripture and doctrine. Their books were not trimmed and edited with the goal of making them light and breezy. They mined the Word of God. By that, I mean that they dug deep into the doctrine and text. And they applied the doctrines in myriad details. Grace was a great gift. Understanding God’s grace was a life-long quest. There were no cute slogans or snappy choruses; rather, there was theological meat.

The bulky size of many Puritans reprints, the theological assumptions of the authors, and the small print of the reprints all contributed to making new and beautiful reprinted volumes somewhat less useful and very daunting to many readers. Add to those problems, there were lots of Puritan writers (most of whom were pastors) and lots of Puritans books.

What Puritans should I read? And, which of the Puritan books are most important? And where do I start?

I will answer the last question posed above. Good Mr. Baxter is a great place to start on Puritan studies. Even if you have been reading the Puritans for a time, this short book is a great review or overview of one of the prime preachers and writers of the Puritan world.

Baxter’s best know book is titled The Reformed Pastor. Baxter was not writing theory, but explaining his practices. He was the epitome of the good village parson who visited and watched over his flock. His other best known works were The Christian Directory, a nearly 1000 page compendium of Christian living, and The Saints Everlasting Rest.

The advantage of Good Mr. Baxter is its brevity. The book consists of 13 chapters replete with quotes from Baxter. The book could be read through rather quickly; however, I think it is better suited for a daily devotional study. The book is especially useful for prompting pastors to read Baxter’s classic Reformed Pastor, but any Christian could benefit from reading the book.

EXCELLENT!!!!

Good MR. Baxter is an encouragement to me as a pastor and teacher of the Word. I would recommend this book to any believer, whether in the ministry or not, simply because of it's focus on the heart of Christ. It inspired me to examine my own life and ministry, as well as deepen my longing to be used by God the way so many of the puritan pastors were.

Before reading this book I knew very little of Richard Baxter, and though I know more now, I feel I have only just met him, and look forward to an expanded edition from Vance Salisbury in the near future.

If you love the writings and characters of the puritan church age, then I'm positive you will enjoy this book.

Engaging, Enlightening, Encouraging

Mr Salisbury has written an engaging biography about a less-known servant of the Lord. Richard Baxter's life and his commitment to ministry are inspiring enough, but Salisbury's insightful treatment of his trials, his faithfulness and his writings bring a dimension to Baxter's life that many might otherwise miss. I found myself encouraged to press on in ministry, in spite of trials or setbacks, knowing that the Lord uses faithful men such as Baxter and Salisbury to accomplish great things for the kingdom.

I received a review copy of this book, and very much enjoyed it. I've been managing my own Facebook Page for years but there was some stuff in here even I didn't know about. It's a great addition to the library of social media marketing books Carey has published. If you want a book that walks you through setting up a Page and all the secret tricks on how to build an audience from nothing, this is the book to get.

About the Author
If asked to describe himself in just one word, Deepak would use a compound one, non-conformist. Deepak has never coloured inside the lines, always seeking new ways to do things. Even his art teacher in school was rather taken aback – even if not impressed – by the way Deepak dealt with art techniques. If he didn’t like the techniques taught to him, he invented new ones. Coming from a family of avid readers, Deepak soon discovered the joys of sinking into a good book and was soon far outstripping his classmates, both in choice of reading material and speed of reading. Deepak figuratively devoured books like a gourmand, reading anything and everything. One of his chief delights at the start of school was to read all his textbooks for the academic year as if they were novels, mostly cover to cover in about an hour each. Developing thus an eclectic interest in just about everything – he has authored over a dozen guide books on management subjects ranging from Business Ethics to Marketing to Information Technology, has been published in the Chicken Soup for the Indian Soul series and has written and staged over forty musicals – en route collecting a Master’s Degree in Commerce, a Master’s Diploma in Management, an International Diploma in Computer Studies and an International Professional Certificate in Communication, Deepak has developed a succinct style that addresses the root of intellect as well as emotion. Business Advice from an Artist by Deepak Morris

I would hesitate to call this ebook 'Business Advice from an Artist.' A businessperson would find little new with regards his/her business. Rather it addresses life as seen from the viewpoint of a man with a mission to teach. Deepak's labyrinthine and sometimes comically arrogant mind poses questions and offers up sound advice for artists and the general public.

Deepak takes a fresh look at the human condition and reformats it in unique ways. He sometimes touches upon the blatantly obvious, but equally there are gems in there that warrant a second look and serious thought.

I enjoyed it. It made me think, and that's no mean feat!

There really isn't any better way to describe these books other than clean and sweet. Are they perfect? No. You may notice statements or phrases that are more modern than the 1800's but I don't care. They are not realistic in that there is always a happy ending. That is okay too. These books are entertaining feel good romance stories. Love mail order brides.

Helped me with my thinking.

I read this book while I was considering which direction to go. The book contains some clear steps and useful thoughts, that helped me make my decision. The book also contains some additional resources online which I have yet to use, but which I am looking forward to diving into. In this book Paradee Thomas demonstrates that she really understands the issues involved. I am grateful that she wrote this book, and I suspect I will be reading it again in a few months time to pick up bits may have missed. I recommend you get this book.

Paradee Thomas has written a very helpful book for anyone wanting to change the direction of their life. She gives very detailed instructions on how to change thought pattens and beliefs. She reminds us to "tune into the right station," and not allow the negatives to seep in. And if you want sometjing you've never had, you will have to do things you have never done. A great road map for getting were we want to go in life!

My passion is writing! What could be more delicious than inventing new characters and seeing where they take you?

I am blessed to live in Indiana, a state I share with many Amish communities. (I find the best spices, hot cereal, and good cooking advice at an Amish store not too far away.)

I'm a teacher so I spend most of my waking hours with young people. I love chatting with them and hearing their views on love and life. My students are magical, and I am honored to be part of their lives.

I've lived in Honduras, Grand Cayman, and Costa Rica. One of my favorite activities is exploring other cultures. My husband, Paul, and I have two grown children and three precious grandchildren, special delivery from Africa. I love to hole up in our lake cabin and write -- often with a batch of popcorn nearby. (Oh, and did I mention dark chocolate?)

This book is awesome! I am missionary Baptist. But books about the Amish are all I've read for the past 6 months. I love their devotion to god and that most everything seems so innocent. . I know that alot of our beliefs are different, but I'm learning about theirs from the books. What matters is that we belive in the same god and will one day all be in heaven. Great books! Love them. Need 10 stars!

~~ Bring out the best leadership in YOU! ~~

The original book was written by John Maxwell, a pastor, leadership mentor and consultant. You will see a lot of the "big" names written about in the book and this Instaread summary (think DETAILED review). There are 12 Key Takeways presented. All are good but here are a couple to whet your appetite:
>>>#5 - "People will only follow a leader they trust. They will naturally follow a leaser with characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses similar to their own."
>>>#7 - "A leader who is confident and secure will empower others, not hoard power. Giving power to develop more leaders results in the fastest team growth."

It is well known that a "talented leader can take a team to greater heights than a less skilled leader." What is "brain drain"? Find out in this summary. Many examples are provided to illustrate the points being made. "The best leaders invest their time on the 20% of tasks and people that deliver 80% of their success." The original book is described as written in the 1st person in a "personal style". If you are a leader, check this Instaread summary out first to see if what is written appeals to you. From there you can go on to read the 256 page original where much more detail is given. Maybe you've already read the original and need a quick reminder? A commonsense view of leadership

Developing subordinate leaders, according to the US Army, is a moral responsibility of a commander. Developing leaders is one of John C. Maxwell’s 21 irrefutable laws of leadership, along with the fact that leadership ability is a cap on the potential for an organization’s success.
An evangelical preacher and author of 50 books on leadership, Maxwell outlines 21 ‘laws’ of leadership in his book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, which is summarized effectively in Instaread’s Key Takeaways, Analysis & Review of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell. As with the other Instaread books, this is an excellent way to get an inside look at the book before investing in it. It summarizes the key points of the book, as well as the author’s style, which is described as conversational, and buttressed with numerous quotes and citations.
Instaread books are an excellent investment for busy readers who need a way to sort the wheat from the chaff in the innumerable books available on any given topic.

good summary and analysis

This Instaread gives a detailed summary of the book titled: The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: Follow Them and People Will Follow You (published in 2007). It also provides a good analysis of the book. From reading this Instaread book, I find it very interesting topic about "leadership"....Never I knew, there were so many "laws of leadership" out there until I read this Instaread summary. And so, it makes me feel I should read John C. Maxwell's book to learn more: "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: Follow Them and People Will Follow You".

This instaread book gives me a good outline of what John C. Maxwell wrote in his book. I know who John C. Maxwell is and learned that he used his Christian belief along with Bible stories to support his book.

From reading this Instaread summary book, I felt a hype of wanting to read John C. Maxwell's book one day. I, however, am not a Christian, so I might not read his book because of his usage on the Bible stories.
