About the Author
Becky Blanton was a journalist for more than 23 years. During that time she was homeless for more than a year, yet she worked full-time, started two businesses and won Press Association awards for her writing. In 2009 she spoke at Oxford University in England at TED Global 2009 about her experience. She is currently a full-time ghostwriter, working with Melissa G. Wilson of Networlding.com on books for CEOs and Fortune 500 companies.

One woman can make a difference.

Beautifully written. Clear, informative, and interesting. The author gives examples of what to do and how to do it. Every word makes sense. This is a thought-provoking plan that can change the face and fate of homeless people. Ideally, the people running the shelters could teach this book to a group or any one who wanted to find their way out of homelessness. I have taken my husband to the VA hospital for over 30 years. My heart breaks for the homeless vets. The problems are overwhelming and the answers are not there. 200 children in my granddaughter's school district are homeless. The local soup kitchen brings in their food and gives them backpacks with things they need and letters asking the parents to come to family dinner two days a week. Even people with jobs and old people on Social Security are welcome. Rent is so high - no money is left for food. Feeding the hungry is a must, but it is not the answer. So many have lost hope. Becky Blanton's ideas are HOPE for the Homeless. Thank you Becky for all you are doing. One woman making a difference.

The Bootstrap Guide For Those Without Boots -- Informative, Engaging, and Worthwhile

Becky Blanton has lived as a homeless person. She's also run her own business for years. Somewhere between Point A and Point B, she managed to cultivate a lengthy client list, help numerous OTHER business colleagues and contacts (like me), and write an engaging and informative book about the subject. Don't start and stop with her TED Talk -- take the time to purchase and read this book. It's worth it for its insights on the homeless by itself, but offers so much more to you, me, or anyone else interested in starting and maintaining a business.

In her book "The Homeless Entrepreneur" she has successfully provided all the information, encouragement, hard-love, and gut wrenching truths that any homeless man/women needs to hear/have in order to turn their life around. She provides a variety of examples about how one could turn little to no money into a business that could easily take one from a poverty stricken situation to life with a brighter future. Yes, it will take some time to build your business and get you on your feet but that's life. Nothing good comes easy... Even if you're not in a desperate situation and you're looking for a source of inspiration to pursue your entrepreneurial endeavors, you very well could find it in this book. In fact, you might find that after reading this book, your creative imagination could spark an idea or two for a business in your area that has a serious demand. That could be a game changer and best of all, she has thoughtfully provided one with countless resources to not only help you get your business off the ground but assist you every step of the way!
