Awesome Bible! Love the columns for taking notes, and also love the premium leather and binding. Great lay-flat and Its really easy to read and get deep into the Word of God!

Better Than Expected!

I ordered this Bible back in July because I wanted something with more room for notes in the margins. The bible lives up to its description and I'm not disappointed in the slightest.
The leather is incredibly nice looking and feeling. I'm confident that it will hold up very well over the years.
Since it is a journaling bible I was concerned over having a handy place to keep my pen so I wouldn't have to go looking for one each time I sit down to study. The way the leather binding wraps over the side of the bible, there is plenty of room to clip a pen to the excess leather on the inside without it even touching the pages.
In short, I'm very impressed and look forward to working my way through it and jotting down what Father reveals to me through His word!

the one i've been waiting for

I had a little hesitation since there were only three reviews & I tend to be picky about books, bindings, font, paper, leather, etc. After a month of use, I'm so pleased with this Bible.
I was concerned that the flap which folds over from the back to the front wouldn't be soft enough to lie flat when the Bible was open. It is, in fact, very soft and flexible. The whole Bible lies open very easily, including the fold-over flap.
I wondered whether the font would be too small and difficult to read. While it is on the small side, it is larger than I had feared & is very readable. Actually more readable than many of my other Bibles with larger fonts.
I worried that the leather tie would be unwieldy & get in my way like another reviewer mentioned. The tie is softer than a shoelace and has no problem tucking under the Bible as it lies flat. I haven't had any trouble with it. I actually prefer it to a snap because it allows you to vary how tightly you secure your Bible--you can close it less tightly to allow space if you prefer to stuff your Bible with loose pages, notes, etc.
I love the lined margins for making notes, and use a micron 005 pen. Using a light touch, it does not bleed through & has no more ghosting than the printed text. If you prefer to use pencil, you can slip a thin piece of plastic (like a bookmark) under the page where you write so that the pressure doesn't leave marks on the other side.
It has the standard NIV footnotes and headings, but nothing else save a contents & table of weights and measures. No extra pages, no concordance, no index, etc. All this I like, as I was looking for something simple, without distractions, free from commentary, with space for my own notes on what I find interesting or enlightening.
It's easy to handle, easy to hold, has a good weight and feel, but isn't too big to carry easily. Because the leather is so soft and flexible, I probably wouldn't toss it into a backpack, but the flap and tie do keep it fairly secure in case you have to.
For me, in summary, it's a quiet Bible--if that makes any sense. It reads quietly because there's nothing to distract me: not the font itself, not pictures, diagrams, or commentary. The paper is easy on my eyes because it isn't bright white. It feels "quiet" in my hand: soft, responsive, lying open, waiting quietly to be read. It's the style of Bible that lends itself to slow, thoughtful reading, with space to rest fully open. Even making margin notes feels "quiet" because the lines keep things clear & orderly. This is the Bible I've been waiting for.
